ACEN 2012
Hey gang, sorry there’s no comic today. I’m attending ACEN out in Rosemont, Il this weekend. ACEN is the third largest anime convention in the country (over 23,000 attendees) and I’ll be a guest of honor along with fellow comic creators Russell Lissau (Batman Strikes!, Strawberry Shortcake), Steve Horton (Amala’s Blade, DC Holiday Special), and John Bivens (Comic Book Tattoo, Reading with Pictures).
As a guest of honor, the show is hooking me up with a table right by the entrance to Artist Alley (look for the big red banner with my pretty face on it). I’ll be selling copies of my books, including my latest projects: Albert the Alien, and @$$hole! volume 1: No Pants Tuesday. There will be special deals throughout the weekend, including:
- The Making Comics Package: Albert the Alien + Junkyard Chase + 1 sketch card – $10
- The @$$hole! Package: @$$hole! Laura’s 21st B-day + @$$hole! vol 1 + Junkyard Chase = $20
- The All Ages Package: Reading with Pictures + Albert the Alien + Junkyard Chase + 2 Sketch Cards – $25
- The Anthology Package: Reading with Pictures + Hope The Hero Initiative + Albert the Alien – $40
- And many more!
Also, if you pledge $50 or more on kickstarter this weekend and show it to me at ACEN, Albert the Alien artist Gabriel Bautista will give you a mini-water color painting!
Additionally, I’m going to be doing some panels throughout the weekend that you just can’t miss:
Friday:
-Breaking into Comics – 6pm – DaVinci (Hyatt) – A Q&A with all of the comic creator guests at the show, including Russell Lissau, Steve Horton, John Bivens, and Trevor Mueller! We each have a story that’s unique – come hear them all.
-Trevor Mueller’s Panel That Shall Not Be Named – 8pm – Vienna (Hyatt) – Nor described. But it’s a popular panel. You just need to show up to find out what it’s all about.
Saturday:
-Self-Publishing 101 – 9pm – London (Hyatt) – It’s never been easier to make a comic book than it is today. Trevor Mueller and Steve Horton take you through some methods and options for self-publishing your own comics.
I may also make an appearance at Alan Evan’s Making Webcomics part 2 panel, Saturday 6:30-7:30pm, Malpensa (Hyatt). Alan and I have put on some great webcomic panels in the past, and this time will be no different. Maybe more funny. We shall see.
ACEN is my favorite show of the year, and always a good time. Hope to see you there!
